Paul W. Casbarian Following three years of military service in Army intelligence, which included service in Vietnam, followed by over a year in the corporate field, and university education, Paul Casbarian began his legal career in the field of casualty defense in Chicago with the Law Offices of O'Brien, Hanrahan, Wolfe and Been, later changed to O'Brien, Hanrahan, Wojcik and Conniff. As well as attending to duties within the law firm, for five years prior to his admission to the Illinois Bar, he acted as a claims adjuster and claims representative for numerous insurance carriers through the independent adjusting firm of M. J. O'Brien & Co., Chicago. In 1978, he struck out on his own as a sole practitioner with his office located in Schaumburg, Illinois, with his practice primarily within Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kane, Will and McHenry Counties, in Illinois. As time passed his practice grew to include over twenty employees including five associate attorneys. Over the years the firm expanded its horizons to include matters from California to New York, Canada to Mexico, the Philippine Islands, United Kingdom, France and Italy. As time passed the firm was systematically phased out toward Paul's goal of resuming practice as a sole practitioner, thereby eliminating the need to manage a law firm to the exclusion of personal contact with clients. Although working solo again, prior to his ceasing the active practice of law, Paul continued to engage in a varied law practice which crossed state and international lines through referrals, co-counsel and case monitoring and assistance. In December 1988, the Circuit Court of Cook County instituted court annexed mandatory arbitration. Paul was one of the first groups of attorneys to be sworn in as a chair qualified arbitrator. He remained an arbitrator with the Circuit Court of Cook County, and arbitrated well over 200 cases for the most part acting as chairman of the three attorney panels since being initially sworn in. He is also admitted to the trial bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is also a member of the Attorney Advisory Committee for the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County. As a writer with a journalism background, as well as an accredited photojournalist, he continues to write at every available opportunity. He is an adjunct faculty member at William Rainey Harper College, Palatine, Illinois, where, since 1995 he maintains a teaching schedule in the Paralegal Studies Program, averaging two courses per semester. He also teaches Law at the Schaumburg and Warrenville campuses of the University of Phoenix primarily in the MBA program. He also continues his own education through continuing legal education, and teaching seminars. While maintaining an active law practice he remains enrolled as a computer technology student, with PC support professional, A+, Network +, certified internet webmaster and continues on a professional computer technology track at Harper Tech. Paul is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Illinois.
